DBD supports another successful YGN Event
DBD once again lent its support to the YGN’s Networking Event and Exhibition at Birchwood Park, Warrington on Tuesday 7th February 2012. The event was masterminded by DBD’s Monica Mwanje, and many DBD staff members were in attendance.
The event, now in its second year, attracted a range of exhibitors, delegates and students and was again a great success. This preceded a very engaging YGN Question Time with its focus on Wylfa and the plans for Anglesey’s “Energy Island” Programme.
Monica, who is this year’s YGN Vice Chair as DBD reported last month, stated: “It was fantastic that so many companies chose to support the networking event and the YGN. Without this level of support, the exhibition would not have been possible. The success of the Question Time is due to the panellists all taking the time to come and talk with the audience. Many thanks to all the panellists and companies that helped make this event the success it was.”

DBD Golf Tournament aids West Cumbrian charities
£800 raised from a golf tournament organised by DBD has been donated to charities chosen by Cumbria County Council’s annual Good Causes Fund.
Several companies based in the West Cumbria area took part in the tournament in September 2011 and raised £1600 in total. This week, cheques were handed over to West Cumbria Rape Crisis and West Cumbria Young Carers, overseen by Councillor John Woolley, Chairman of Cumbria County Council. DBD’s Len Jones, Roy Palmer and Adrian Long, who organised the tournament, were also present at the cheque handover.
The remaining £800 was donated to the Great North Air Ambulance.
DBD’s MD Andrew Carlick said: “A great part of what DBD do is focused on the West Cumbria region and it is fitting that we also support locally sponsored charities. I’d like to personally thank Adrian, the DBD team and our guests in making this a successful and enjoyable fundraising event.”
DBD’s Monica Mwanje appointed YGN Vice Chair for 2012
Monica Mwanje, a key member of DBD’s process engineering team, has been appointed vice chair of the Nuclear Institute’s Young Generation Network (YGN) for 2012.
Monica first began volunteering for the YGN in 2005 and joined the YGN committee in 2007. During this time, she has helped to launch and organise a number of events. In 2011 Monica took on the role of commercial officer for the YGN committee, lead the organisation of the first YGN North West networking event and exhibition and the Rough Guide to Nuclear New Build.

The role of the YGN vice-chair includes: deputising for the YGN chair, input into the direction, objectives and strategy for the YGN committee and membership. Helping to ensure YGN representation and links with other NI branches and external organisations.
