European Nuclear Young Generation Forum (ENYGF) took place in Manchester last week, with DBD as a silver sponsor. Three of our young engineers helped organise this inspiring conference.
Last week, the European Nuclear Young Generation Forum (ENYGF) brought together over 550 students and young professional from across the nuclear industry in the iconic city of Manchester. The Nuclear Institute’s (NI) Young Generation Network (YGN) organised the week-long conference including presentations from global nuclear experts, panel sessions, interactive workshops, technical site tours, networking/social events, cultural tours and a poster competition. The theme for this year’s ENYGF was “Innovation in Nuclear: A rich heritage and our Bright Future”.
DBD was proud to support the event as a Silver Sponsor. It was the biggest ENYGF yet, with over 30 volunteers getting involved in the organisation and running of the conference as part of the YGN. Three of our young process engineers were actively involved as volunteers and were essential to making the event a success. See a photo below taken at DBD’s exhibition stand, from left to right: Jenna McIntyre & Robert Dallas (Sponsorship Co-Leads), Kimberley Williams (Event Treasurer).
“We are proud to have been a part of the organisation team for ENYGF 2017. The volunteering team has been very enthusiastic and we had high ambitions for the conference. It was great to help with the planning and coordination and then to see all our hard work come to fruition. We made some good contacts with like-minded professionals from across the world. We learned a lot, both through the organisation in the run-up to the event and also in taking part in the conference. The atmosphere was buzzing and it was great to see everyone coming away from the conference energised and inspired.”
One of DBD’s optioneering experts and a role model for women in technical roles within the industry, Jane Hallington, also attended the event to present on our Resilience Project “An integrated approach to Nuclear Safety, Security and Cyber Protection”. See one of the slides below:
The event received some fantastic feedback from delegates and speakers, with some saying it was the best conference that they’d ever been to:
Delegate feedback - “I knew I’d have a good time, but I didn’t realise that I’d be coming away from the week feeling genuinely inspired by what I saw and who I met. It was honestly one of the best weeks I can remember having”.
DBD are proud to continue to support events in the nuclear industry that inspire the next generation of professionals.
